Surfaces

The Fastest Big Change in a Kitchen

New counters and a new backsplash change a kitchen more than any other project short of a full remodel, and they are best done together: the backsplash lands on the new counter height, the seams disappear, and the whole run reads as one piece. We handle removal, coordination with the counter fabricator, and the tile work ourselves.

  • Quartz, granite, and solid surface counters
  • Backsplash tile, from subway to full height
  • Old surface removal and disposal
  • Sink and faucet swaps while it is open

One Project, Not Two

Homeowners often price counters and backsplash separately and end up with two disruptions and a seam that shows. We run it as one project: the tile lands on the new counter height, the materials get chosen together, and the kitchen is back in service in one pass. It is the highest-impact mid-size kitchen project we do across Central Connecticut.

How It Works

How This Project Runs

  1. Template and Choose

We measure, bring samples, and coordinate the counter fabrication.

  2. Old Surfaces Out

Counters and backsplash removed and disposed of, sink and faucet options while it is open.

  3. Counters In, Tile On

Fabricated counters set, then backsplash tile landed cleanly on the new height.

  4. Seal and Done

Caulked, sealed, and ready to cook on.

FAQ

Countertop and Backsplash Questions

Yes, whenever possible. The backsplash sits on the counters, so doing them together means clean joints, one disruption, and materials chosen to work with each other.

Absolutely. New surfaces on solid cabinets is one of the best value projects in the house. If the cabinets are past saving, we can scope a full cabinet replacement at the same visit.

Quartz wins for low maintenance, granite for natural variation, solid surface for budget and seamless looks. We will bring samples and talk through how you actually use the kitchen.

Counters are templated, fabricated, then installed, and the backsplash follows. We sequence it so you keep a working sink for as much of it as possible.
